Humor, family touches, and a relaxed reception made Christine and Travis’s wedding in Muscatine, IA perfectly theirs.
The newlyweds grew up in the same town, so they always knew of each other. In fact, their older brothers were best friends! Christine and Travis became friends in high school and reconnected again when they both transferred to UNI for college. A few years later, they were engaged and planning their June wedding!
Wedding Shopping at Hope’s Bridal
When she was ready to shop for her gown, Christine headed to Hope’s. “I have been going to Hope’s since I was looking for prom dresses. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. I actually went to both stores when I was wedding dress shopping and everyone always seems to really care about you finding your dream dress,” she said.
Christine purchased her Essense of Australia bridal gown, jewelry and bridesmaid dresses at Hope’s. The dress that made her say “YES” was the very first gown she put on. Even though she shopped a few more times after that first day, she kept coming back to it. Christine shared, “I really loved my dress and got tons of compliments on it! The secret sparkle was the best and I loved how it shimmered every time I moved. It was the perfect amount of lace and I wish I had another reason to wear it!”

Christine advises current brides to ask for help with their wedding planning. “I never would have been able to do this without my family and friends helping me along the way, she said.
Travis and Christine chose a friend to officiate their wedding, and she added humor to the ceremony. “We took our vows seriously, but the rest of the time there were jokes to keep everyone from sobbing. I loved our ceremony,” said Christine. She carried a bouquet with family mementos such as her great-grandmother’s broach and her grandma’s handkerchief wrapped around it. And as a fun, special touch, the couple’s grandparents served as flower girls and ring bearer!
After the ceremony, Christine remembers finally relaxing and taking it all in. “The Merrill had a couch on the balcony, and I was able to sit out there and chat with friends and just enjoy my happiness,” she recalled.
After the Wedding
For their honeymoon, Christine and Travis traveled to Estes Park, CO. They stayed in a cabin just a couple of miles from Rocky Mountain National Park and two miles from the town. “We went up to the mountains multiple times a day and just took the time to relax and enjoy the views. We liked it so much we are considering moving out there in the future!”
The newlyweds are cherishing their moments together. “Don’t rush things. Enjoy the happiness of being married,” Christine recommends.
Christine, thank you so much for being a Hope’s bride and such a joy to work with! We love your love story and seeing how happy you are! We wish you and Travis a lifetime of special moments you’ll cherish together!
