Hope’s Bride Aubrey describes her husband Tanner as one of the funniest people around. “He has a laugh that can be heard for miles and even if you don’t want to smile, you can’t help but laugh along. He encourages me to be a better person and always give 110% in everything I do. He has made me a more driven and happier person since day one.”
While the two grew up in neighboring towns and had mutual friends, they didn’t officially meet until Aubrey began working at Raelyn’s, Tanner’s go-to bar in Geneseo, IL. They started dating and soon moved together to Houston, TX. When they both realized they were too far from their families, they moved to Chicago to plant their roots.
In November of 2016, Aubrey and Tanner took a vacation to Punta Cana. While on a walk along the beach at night, Tanner asked a nearby couple to take their picture. To Aubrey’s complete surprise, he dropped to one knee and asked her to be his wife. “It was an overwhelming but unforgettable incredible feeling,” she remembers.
They began to plan a wedding for April of 2018 with romantic, rustic, and chic elements to make it a beautiful day all their own. Aubrey recommends other brides book the vendors that are important to them right away because they often book out far in advance.
Aubrey and her bridesmaids shopped at Hope’s. She said “YES” to a mermaid Mori Lee gown, while her bridesmaids and junior bridesmaid found dresses from Sorella Vita. “Whenever I had questions they were always available, and they let me know exactly when to order dresses to ensure they would arrive on time,” Aubrey says of the service they received.
At their ceremony Aubrey’s dad walked her half way down the aisle, where her stepdad joined them. “It was important to me that they were both involved on my wedding day just as they have been for my life.” Tanner’s mom officiated, making the ceremony even more personal and sentimental.
Aubrey’s favorite part of the special day was dancing the night away with her husband, family, and close friends. “We made countless memories on the dance floor that I will always cherish,” she says.
Aubrey shares this advice with other brides: “Do not worry about the little things on your wedding day. The reception flowers may not be exactly as you pictured but no one knows that but you. Take every minute of the day in because it will be over before you know it and remember the best is yet to come.”
The newlyweds honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Tanner planned the whole thing and kept the destination a surprise for Aubrey until they left for the airport! “It was absolutely beautiful!!! We stayed in an over the water private island bungalow; it was so much more then I even could have imagined and planned on my own.”
Aubrey and Tanner have enjoyed an amazing start to their married life together. “We celebrate the little milestones, and I find that important. Even if it is just a simple text saying ‘Happy one month of marital bliss.’ It reminds your partner how much you love and enjoy doing life with them,” says Aubrey.
Congrats, Aubrey and Tanner! Enjoy a life of love and laughter together! Thank you so much for sharing your wedding day with us!
