Stephanie and Alex’s fall wedding was full of glitz and glam, taking place in the town where they first met. We had a wonderful time helping her find her bridal gown and bridesmaids, and had to share their beautiful day!
The two lovebirds met when Stephanie attended Amana’s Octoberfest celebration with her friend Emily, who is married to a man from Amana. Stephanie hit it off right away with Alex, and he took her on their first date to Orchard Green in Iowa City.
Both Stephanie and Alex were in grad school; she was at UNI finishing her Masters in Counseling, and he was finishing his law degree at Drake. They moved in together after a year of long-distance, and two years later Alex proposed at Green Orchard, where they had their first date.
They began to plan their fall wedding, and Stephanie came to Hope’s. She found her glamorous Maggie Sottero gown and Sorella Vita bridesmaid dresses in what she calls a “very fun atmosphere with lots of energy from the employees!”
She reminds brides to have fun and enjoy the wedding planning process. “Weddings can be overwhelming and stressful, but I just took my time with it and had fun!”
On the big day, Stephanie wore a necklace that was her great, great grandmother’s. It had been worn by her great-great-grandma, great-grandma, grandma, two aunts, and her mom on each of their wedding days. “I am the first female grandchild to be wed on my mother’s side of the family and was happy to continue the tradition of wearing my family pearl necklace,” Stephanie says.
Her favorite memory from the day was the first look. She remembers, “That moment made the whole day so surreal, and to finally show off my dress to my future husband was a moment only we will share. It’s just a special time you and your future husband get to spend just the two of you.”
The newlyweds headed to Napa Valley for their honeymoon two days after the wedding. They stayed at the Andaz Hotel in Napa and rented a Mustang convertible to drive around town and visit the wineries. They went on a wine train, had private wine tastings, stomped grapes, shopped fun boutiques, and even enjoyed a spa day with a mud bath.
Then they drove to San Francisco and stayed at the Sir Francis Drake hotel. They went to the Golden Gate Park, Japanese Tea Garden, China Town, Painted Ladies, Alcatrez, and more! “We had a very fun and adventurous honeymoon. It was fun to have it just the two of us and enjoy being newlyweds!” Stephanie says.
“Married life is absolutely wonderful! My advice for newlyweds is to just take it one day at a time and remember to put each other first!” Stephanie concludes.
It was an honor to be a part of your gorgeous fall wedding, Stephanie and Alex. Thank you for trusting us with your business, and blessings to you in your new life together!
