What is a Trunk Show?

At Hope’s we get SO EXCITED for trunk shows!  But we realize some of our customers are not familiar with them.  You might not know what we are talking about when we say, “You have to come to this designer trunk show!”  So… here’s a little info on these super-fun events that fashionistas love!

Trunk shows are special events when designers send their new product to a retail store to “test” the dresses and get feedback from consumers. Often, these are held before the styles are mass-produced, advertised or released to all stores.  It’s rare to see designer trunk shows in Iowa.  (We’re not considered one of the top fashion areas… hmm.)  However, Hope’s reputation in the bridal and prom industry allows us the opportunity to offer several trunk shows throughout the year!

Usually a trunk show is for just one day or weekend, and sometimes the company even sends a designer or representative to provide inside information and style advice.  The dresses usually come in a sample size that fits their standard models for trade shows and photo shoots, so they are typically just in a size 4-10 depending on the company. However, they can be ordered in any size if you find the right dress!

Since trunk shows are so exclusive and offer new dresses that you won’t normally find, they give you the chance to get a one-of-a-kind dress, which EVERYONE wants, right?

Both of my wedding dresses were “tester” dresses that were never mass-produced.  Only the few brides who saw them at trunk shows for Martina Liana and Essesnse of Australia had ever even seen them!  That made me feel pretty special, and you can feel that too!  Check out our Events page to see when we have upcoming trunk shows scheduled, and book your appointment!
