Real Wedding by Hope’s: Holly and Neil
Holly and Neil’s bohemian chic wedding was a perfect representation of their beautiful, fun relationship. The two met when Holly’s sister, Jena, was dating Neil’s best friend, Brett. “As I grew up I started to get to know Neil and started to grow a little crush on him,” Holly explains. Neil was nervous to ask Jena’s “little sister” out, but they started dating when Holly was nineteen.
On their third anniversary, they met after work at Cedar Ridge Winery to celebrate. Holly was following Neil home in her car, and she noticed he was speeding. “As I’m pulling up in our driveway, I see him darting to the front door. I was like, ‘wow those cheese curds must have really gotten to him!’ I walk in and see him standing in our kitchen and ask him why he was trying to race me. He just looks at me funny and says that he wasn’t.”
Holly thought that was strange, but let it go. She took off her shoes, saying, “I bet my feet smell so bad!” (She’s a vet assistant who had been at work all day.) She turned around to find Neil on his knee asking her to marry him. “It’s pretty typical of me to ruin a romantic moment,” Holly laughs.
“I pretty much always knew Neil was the one for me; he has a sense of humor, he almost always makes me laugh, he has a very caring and loving heart for his friends and family, and he has made me feel so much more confident about myself in the past four years that we have been together.”
As Holly began planning her bohemian chic wedding, she came to Hope’s. It’s a family tradition since her mom and sister were both Hope’s brides and she had bought her prom dresses at Hope’s. (Check out some fun throwback pictures to her mom’s and sister’s weddings at the end of this post!) She found her gorgeous Stella York wedding dress and bridal accessories, her Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dresses in Pistachio, the tuxedos, and ring bearers’ outfits all in one place.
“The best part about working with Hope’s was that they treated, not only me, but also everyone else in my wedding so kindly. They are so patient and seem to want to truly help you find everything to make your dream wedding come true!” Holly shared.
Holly has some helpful advice she received that worked well for her: “Try to do things one at a time. Don’t involve a lot of people for choosing things, such as your dress, bridesmaid dresses, or decorations, etc. I didn’t have a lot of people helping with some things because it would have caused nothing but stress for me; so glad I did that!”
To create the bohemian chic wedding theme, Holly decorated deer skulls with flowers and a donut wall that was a huge hit. Her favorite moments were walking down the aisle to Neil and surprising everyone with her father/daughter dance.
The newlyweds honeymooned a week after their wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. They upgraded to the Preferred Club at Secrets Cap Cana, so they were on the quiet side of the resort and had a butler on call at all times. They would recommend it to anyone, and highly advise all newlyweds to honeymoon as soon as possible. “It doesn’t have to be a big expensive trip, anything! I truly believe you need that time alone with your partner to soak everything in and get that alone time with them to think about nothing but each other.”
Holly and Neil, it was an honor to be a part of your beautiful wedding and a joy to help you! Congrats and blessings to you!
