Real Wedding by Hope’s: Amanda and Nate
Amanda and Nate will soon be celebrating their first wedding anniversary and 10th year together as a couple, and we are so excited to share these high school sweethearts’ wedding with you! Amanda explains, “It’s kind of crazy how fast time goes! I would definitely say it is not easy at times, but for us the good times outweigh the bad, and I think that’s how we have made it this far.”
“Nate is a pretty laid back guy, knows how to work, and tells things how they are,” Amanda says of her husband. Their laid-back style is evident in their choice to have a destination wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic last April. They also hosted a local reception with a vintage beach theme.
Amanda came to Hope’s her first day shopping for her wedding, and describes her experience with everyone being very accommodating. “I went there just to find bridesmaids dresses and try on some wedding dresses never thinking I would find THE ONE on my first day of wedding dress shopping. The girls got their dresses ordered as well!” After trying on tons of dresses, Ariel directed her to one she was picturing based on Amanda’s vision. “I cried, my mom, sister, and grandma cried and it was a really happy day for me! Thanks Hopes Bridal!”
Wedding planning is stressful, Amanda knows. She recommends getting the big things booked right away, and said the bridal expo she attended really helped her start thinking about what she wanted for her wedding. “Don’t be afraid to ask for help,” she advises. “People want to be involved! My mom and sister were a God send!”
The couple’s beach wedding provided some fun memories for sure! They were able to go swimming that morning before getting ready. That afternoon, she and her dad were driven around the resort to the beach ceremony in a DONKEY-drawn carriage. “The guy had a whip! I was wondering what would really happen if things got out of hand and if this donkey was tame? We made it! It didn’t feel real, it went fast, and we had no idea what we were doing up there because there was no rehearsal! So we went with the flow and looked at the ocean waves coming in.” Following the ceremony, they had a cocktail hour and then dinner, cake-cutting and dance. Plus, she and Nate were able to stay for an extra few days after their guests left to enjoy a honeymoon!
But the fun didn’t end there. “The reception back here was a blast! It was pretty relaxed as well without all the rushing. We got pictures taken and had a normal reception back here!” Amanda’s favorite parts were when Nate’s brother sang their first dance song, her sister’s speech, and her unexpected daddy daughter dance. “We put a fun twist to that, and for everyone that knows my dad he doesn’t dance, but he did not miss one move to our choreographed dance!”
Things are great for the married couple; on Valentine’s Day Amanda was six months pregnant with a baby girl! They enjoyed a fun and busy summer together, with lots of other weddings and a three day canoeing trip that was a real adventure! Once they found out she was pregnant, the renovations began on the baby’s room.
“I think anyone can agree that putting a ring on her finger shouldn’t change the way your love and interaction changes. If anything it brought me and Nate closer, because by him proposing to me it meant that we were going to be together forever no matter what life brought us. Most of all, don’t fight over the little things; life is too short!”
Congrats, Amanda and Nate, and thank you so much for letting us be a part of your beautiful love story! Warmest wishes for your expanding family!
