Happy Mother’s Day to all of you! Mothers, grandmothers, those praying to be a mother, those who mother angels, those with fur-babies, all you who mother in any way- happy day to you!
Last Mother’s Day I felt Selah move inside me for the first time, and it was magical. I absolutely LOVE being her mommy and thank God every day for this chance. I know in just a blink of an eye, I will be one of you moms watching her choose her prom dress or walking down the aisle. It’s already going so fast!
Before Selah was born, I bought a CD called Hidden in My Heart- Scripture Lullabies. I played it to her in my belly and have continued to play it to her at different times. Yesterday we were listening to it as we drove back to St. Louis from Iowa, and one scripture from Isaiah 40 really spoke to me as a mother.
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Moms are super-heroes (especially mine!). I don’t understand how my mom can do it ALL and do it ALL so well. I don’t understand how I can be up half the night with Selah and still be excited and happy to start the day with her in the morning. I don’t understand how some of my dear friends who will be the best moms have maintained such hope after difficulties conceiving and losses. I don’t understand a lot about how moms manage…
But then again, I do understand. It’s right there in Isaiah. God gives us strength. His strength is ultimate.
The other piece of this is my hope for my daughter. I know there will be times she will grow tired, stumble, and fall. But my prayer is that her hope is always in the Lord. That He will help her to walk, to run, and to soar.
This Mother’s Day, may you find rest, joy and HOPE! You deserve to be celebrated! And a special HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to my mom and all the amazing moms who work with us at Hope’s! We are so thankful for you!
